W.A.R. (we are right)
W.A.R. (We Are Right) is my response to the forces that shape our perceptions, the structures that tell us what is right, and the blindness that follows. Through this series, I explore how power, ideology, and collective belief systems mold individuals into unquestioning participants in a larger narrative—one that often suppresses doubt, silences opposition, and erases independent thought.
The absence of eyes in my figures is intentional. It represents the cost of certainty, the moment when seeing becomes unnecessary because the mind has already been shaped. It is not about physical blindness but about a deeper, more insidious loss—the inability to question, to perceive beyond what we are told. The teddy bear ears, a recurring element, carry a dual meaning: they symbolize childhood, innocence, and nostalgia, yet in this context, they also reflect submission, a passive acceptance of imposed truths.
I use a combination of sharp geometric lines and raw, distressed textures to create a tension between control and decay. The precise, almost mechanical elements mirror the rigidity of ideological structures, while the rough, fractured surfaces suggest the human cost—the erosion of identity, the scars of manipulation, the weight of conformity. Scissors appear as a dominant motif, embodying censorship, division, and the severing of perception from reality. They raise an unsettling question: How much of what we believe is truly ours, and how much has been cut away by the systems around us?
This series is not about pointing fingers or offering easy answers. Instead, it is an invitation—to look closer, to question, to reflect on our own place within these constructs. In a world where being "right" is often more about power than truth, W.A.R. is my way of confronting the illusion of certainty. It is an exploration of control, perception, and the silent war that takes place within every individual navigating a world shaped by unseen forces.
Are we truly right, or are we just unable to see?
