NO MORE WAR
“NO MORE WAR ” by Lucian Sebastian Radu
Acrylic on canvas
100 x 67cm
I remember what my grandfather used to tell me about the war and how they were fishing in the river near their village with grenades found in the field and how a friend lost his life that way. Leaving here, I imagine the trauma that the children of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict go through. In 1963, the song "Come away Melinda" was released, an emotional, anti-war song written by Fred Hellerman and Fran Minkoff, which was one of the sources of inspiration for this work. The background consists of over 100 wishes written by various participants on October 14, 2023 in the city of Iasi. This work was going to be called "Wish", but following the conflict in the Gaza strip, I decided that it is much more appropriate to change the theme of the work. The yellow color and the black writing represent the warning about the fragility of peace and desires. "NO MORE WAR" was written towards the end of the wish collection process and it was a real surprise because the lady in question wrote big and above the other wishes. From a technical point of view, I tried to leave undetailed many areas inspired by Banksy's graffiti. Thanks to all the co-authors and I'm sorry I can't tag you all.
