Ukraine on hold

"Ukraine on hold” by Lucian Sebastian Radu

acrylic on canvas

180 x 180 cm

In "Ukraine on Hold," the teddy bear, representing innocence, stands with outstretched arms, its eyeless gaze fixed on distant tanks invading a yellow field. Adorned with the colors of the Ukrainian flag, it symbolizes the nation's struggle amid conflict. The plastic wrap overlay hints at a pause in peace, emphasizing the turmoil's temporary suspension. Through this scene, viewers are prompted to empathize with the emotional toll of war, reflecting on the fragility of peace and the resilience needed to endure adversity.

Through my W.A.R. (We Are Right) project, I explore the falsely justified motivations behind wars and the generational traumas endured by children. It's a personal reflection on the human condition and the ongoing struggles for peace amidst conflict.
